How patient God is to accept the blame for many things, when He is not to be blamed for anything.
People have all kinds of ideas about God. Some think that He is distant and unconcerned about their circumstances. Others think that He is pushy and demanding. One of the most common misconceptions among men is that God is responsible for the evil in the world. It is believed that He is responsible for cancers, hurricanes, and everything in between, when He’s not. These evils came into existence when Adam and Eve sinned against God. The Bible teaches that when man fell, Satan gained control of this world system. Satan is responsible for the evils in the world, not God.
Some would say, “Well why did God allow all this to happen in the beginning?” God had to allow Satan, Adam and Eve to do what they did. Love has to allow free will in the other person. Had God not allowed man’s free will to do what he did, God would have been a dictator. Actually, the existence of evil and suffering in the world is a testimony for the love of God and not against it. God has always given His creation free choice to love Him. And free choice gave way to rebellion and the evil that is in the world today. Suffering, therefore, does not indicate that God doesn’t care about us.
If God has wronged us, it is in the fact that He loved us enough to send His Son, Jesus Christ, into this fallen world to redeem us. God has always loved man. He loves you even if you don’t love Him. The Bible says that God loved us and sent Jesus to die for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:6-8). What this means is that God’s love for you, and His desire to help you is not based on your godly performance, it’s based on His love for you!
God’s great desire is to pull us out of the pit we find ourselves in as a result of doing our own thing and going our own way. The Word of God reveals God as savior, healer, deliverer, provider, and protector to name just a few things that He is to man. God is a good God. He is always your answer and never your problem.
Don’t Believe Satan over God
The trouble is man believes Satan over God. Satan is a liar. He will lie against God if you will let him. He is a rebel archangel that started out perfect, but through his rebellion against God has become God’s adversary. And because he is God’s adversary, he is your adversary.
In his rebellion, Satan swept away one third of the angels. These angels are most likely the demons that roam the earth today. They, along with Satan, feverishly work to turn men’s minds against God. This is the reason why people think that God is lame and uninterested in their troubles. If I were Satan, I would do everything I could to make it seem like God did not care about you. I would make God look distant, indifferent, boring, and not worth the effort to live for. Surely Satan has thought of this. Paul declares in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that Satan is the god of this present world system and that he blinds men’s minds from the truth of God’s love and provision.
I don’t know about you but I have purposed to not listen to Satan’s lies about God. God is everything His Word says He is; He does everything His Word says He does. He forgives and forgets, He heals and helps, and He loves and listens to our cries. God is everything good; Satan is everything evil. Never confuse the two!
Give God a Chance to Help You
I recall how back in August 1982 the Lord began to draw me to Himself. Though I was only twenty, my life was a wreck. It seemed like something, rather Someone, said to me, “Give me a try.” I know now that it was the Holy Spirit drawing me to the goodness of God. I did give Him a try, and there is no comparison to my own efforts in life, He is better!
Our beginning place with God is to receive His greatest gift to us, the giving of His Son, Jesus Christ, for our forgiveness and cleansing of all sins. Invite Him into your life if you have not done so. But don’t stop there; include the Lord in your life as you would a friend. In fact, make Him your best friend. This will automatically happen as you grow in your knowledge and appreciation of Him.
Begin to read your Bible as if it was God’s personal letter written to you because it is. Give God time to reveal Himself to you. Go by the Word of God in every area of your life, for all the decisions and circumstances of life. God will make His Word good in your life as you rely upon it. When you get a taste of answered prayer, and the goodness of God, no other way to live will satisfy. Your perspective on life will change. Your spiritual eyes will open to the truth of what is really happening in this present evil world. You will see that God is a good God, and Satan is a very evil devil.
