Start With God
God has a plan for your life. That means He has a plan for each day of your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God has thoughts about you each day. But to get His plan to you, you have to start with God each day.
Not too long ago I was traveling one of Michigan’s highways and passed a great field of sunflowers in bloom. It was a spectacular sight as the highway went right through the center of the field of flowers.
It was early in the morning and the sun was just breaking over the horizon. I noticed that all the flowers were facing the sun. I thought, “What a way to start the day, facing the sun!” Mature sunflowers face the east, so they begin each day facing the sunrise. They are called “sunflowers”, not just because they are round and yellow like the sun, but because they begin each day looking towards the sun. They take on the image of the sun!
Can you see in this example of the sunflower a lesson for our walk with God? I can. We need to begin our day with the Son, and as we do, we will take on His radiance, His image, for the day. We need to start with God each day.
God has designed you to be able to hear His voice and understand His desires for you. He has thoughts to share with you each day. He has plans to bless you, and for you to be a blessing to others. By beginning each day in your Bible and prayer, you are in a position to get what you need from God for the day. As you are faithful to start with God, He will communicate with you, and you will reflect His brightness all day long just like the sunflower reflects the brightness of the sun all day long!
